The answer to the question, “Who wears the crown at the Miss Ghana 2017?” has finally been answered as a new queen has been crowned.
After weeks of anticipation and excitement, Margaret Mwintuur Dery, a student of the University of Development Studies, Wa Campus studying Social Science Education and a representative of the Upper West Region of Ghana has been crowned the Diamond Jubilee Queen.
Aside being crowned the Diamond Jubilee Queen, Margaret Dery also won Miss Talent and beauty with a purpose.
Marigold Frimpong from the Ashanti Region and Priscilla Gameli (Eastern region) came in as 2nd runner and 1st runner ups respectively.
Broadcast live on national television, GTV, Margaret Derry’s win does not come as a surprise to many as they shared comment on Twitter.
Trickling down from 20 to 10 and finally to 5, Volta Region’s Abigail Dzamefe, Priscilla Gameli from the Easter Region, Margaret and two others made it to the top 5 from which Margaret eventually won.
Among other wins on the night were Western Region’s Millicent Dzudzor picking the awards for both Miss Beach Beauty and Eloquence. Pepertual Aquah won Miss fitness.
Priscilla Gameli from the Eastern Region won Miss Photogenic and Miss Beauty Skin whereas Marigold Frimpong picked Miss Congeniality.
The Central Region’s representative Perpetual Aquah picked the award for Miss Top Model despite missing the top 10.
Held at the State Banquet Hall in Accra, Ghana and saw performances from Sheriffa Gunu and saxophonist Steve Bedi.

The grande finale saw in attendance beauty Queens from other countries including Miss Cameroon – Sandra Minkata, Miss Guinea – Asmao Diallo, Miss Nigeria – Winfrey Okolo, Miss Gabon – Constant Abessolo, Miss Senegal – Aissatou Fall and Miss Hungary 2016, Timea Gelencser.
